Design and Ergonomics

This camera is 107.7 mm thick, and with dimensions of 122.9 x 92.4 x 107.7mm and a weight of 600g.  A 2.7 " LCD screen allows for framing, reviewing and sharing images.

Canon's PureColour LCD II offers spectacular colour, resolution and contrast even when viewed at an angle. The screen is highly durable and easy to see in any light with a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective coating. It also features Night Display for easy viewing in low light - a perfect feature for gathering friends and family around to see your images.

Picture Quality and Lens

With 12.1 megapixels you can get a 10x13 print at full resolution with greater enlargement possible to achieve high quality Banner size prints. The 35 times lens has a 35mm film equivalent focal length range of  24-840mm, which will give you a perspective from Extra wide angle to Full telephoto for Large groups and landscapes to Very Creative portraits and distant landmarks of interest. It also has a 4 times digital zoom and is also capable of a high 3200 ISO for better lowlight photography.

Canon’s DIGIC 5 processor drives fast processing speeds, responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds, are the result of advanced Noise Reduction.

Key Features

Optical Image Stabilisation helps to reduce camera shake blur. The built-in gyro sensors detect camera shake and automatically activates a shift lens unit to compensate for it.

Face Detection detects up to 35 faces in a shot and adjusts focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance – for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. FaceSelf-Timer allows you to take group photos, with you in it, easily by taking the shot when your  face enters the frame.

Motion Detection Technology works in the background to instantly evaluate how fast your subject is moving. Then it automatically selects and sets the optimal exposure and ISO settings to keep everything looking sharp and clear. When you need higher ISOs for action-stopping shutter speeds, Motion Detection Technology provides it. But when no movement is detected, it allows lower ISOs for excellent colour and detail.

Canon's new Blink Detection uses the power of Face Detection to determine whether any subject in the previous shot had closed eyes. If closed eyes are detected, a "blink warning" icon appears for 3 seconds, allowing you to retake the shot before your subject or subjects move on.

The MPEG movie mode allows you to capture movies with sound at a good quality 30 frames per second at HD quality (1280 X 720) resolution. The zoom can also be used while capturing video.

This port lets you connect to HDMI compatible HD TVs to view images in high definition quality.

Smart Auto is truly automatic, allowing the camera to detect from 32 different scenes (21 in movies), ensuring optimum results. Multi-area White Balance captures scenes in their natural colours even when illuminated by multiple types of light.
