Picture Quality and Lens

With 14.1 megapixels you can get a 11x14 inch with room for cropping print at full resolution with greater enlargement possible to achieve high quality banner size prints. The 4 times lens has a 35mm film equivalent focal length range of  28-112mm, which will give you a perspective from extra wide angle to short telephoto for large groups and landscapes to good portraits. It also has a 4 times digital zoom and is also capable of a high 1600 ISO for better lowlight photography.

Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor drives fast processing speeds, responsive operation, superb image quality and colour reproduction. Richly detailed, cleaner images, even at high ISO speeds, are the result of advanced Noise Reduction.

The Hints & Tips UI provides on-screen explanations of the camera’s features during shooting, playback and in menus to guide you through the camera’s operation.

Smart AUTO uses Advanced Canon technology to intelligently analyze your situation and shooting conditions. Then it automatically selects an appropriate setting from 18 specially defined settings.

Face Detection detects up to 35 faces in a shot and adjusts focus, exposure, flash settings and white balance – for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. FaceSelf-Timer allows you to take group photos, with you in it, easily by taking the shot when your  face enters the frame.

Motion Detection Technology works in the background to instantly evaluate how fast your subject is moving. Then it automatically selects and sets the optimal exposure and ISO settings to keep everything looking sharp and clear. When you need higher ISOs for action-stopping shutter speeds, Motion Detection Technology provides it. But when no movement is detected, it allows lower ISOs for excellent colour and detail.

i-Contrast solves difficult lighting situations where you have extremely bright and dark areas appearing in the same image by brightening up dark areas while keeping the bright parts as they are

A special red eye fix algorithm on the camera automatically eliminates red eye from occurring in your pictures. You can remove red eye during image reviewing, or for more convenience, set the camera to automatically detect and eliminate red eye from your shots as they are taken.

Canon's new Blink Detection uses the power of Face Detection to determine whether any subject in the previous shot had closed eyes. If closed eyes are detected, a "blink warning" icon appears for 3 seconds, allowing you to retake the shot before your subject or subjects move on.

The MPEG movie mode allows you to capture movies with sound at a good quality 30 frames per second at HD-ready quality (720p) resolution. The zoom can also be used while capturing video.
