Picture Quality and Lens

With 10.1 megapixels you can get a 8x12 inch print at full resolution with room for cropping and with greater enlargement possible to achieve poster size prints. The 3 times Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens has a 35mm film equivalent focal length range of  35-105mm, which will give you a perspective from standard wide angle to short telephoto for small group pictures to creative portraits. The lens does not extend even when zooming. It also has a 6 times digital zoom and up to 17 times smart zoom which is just a digital zoom that adjusts for optimum results by lowering resolution. This camera is also capable of a high 3200 ISO for better lowlight photography.

Face Detection technology

Sony’s improved Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends. Newly added Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and accelerates the shutter speed when facial movement is detected, reducing blur in the subjects face.

Smile Shutter technology

Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can now be used together with Smile Shutter™ when the Intelligent Auto mode is on. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting.
