Designed to be an affordable entry level to mid-level computerized GoTo telescope, the NexStar Star Locating Telescope (SLT) are available in the most popular sizes. Featuring  pre-assembled, adjustable stainless steel tripods, and quick release fork arms and tubes, NexStar SLT telescopes offer fast and easy set-up—  no tools required.

Using Celestron's SkyAlign, simply input the date, time and location into the hand control then slew the telescope to any three bright celestial objects in the sky. You do not need to know the names of the stars — you could even pick the moon or bright planets!

To assist in the star alignment, the NexStar also uses a lightweight StarPointer Finderscope - a quick and easy way to point your telescope exactly to the desired object in the sky, like having a laser pointer that you can shine directly onto the night sky, and Unlike previous entry-level computerized telescopes, the SLT series features flash upgradeable hand controls and GPS compatibility.

Powered by 8 AA user supplied batteries or an optional AC adapter , the NexStar’s are highly portable and feature an ergonomically-designed hand control, allowing users the  freedom to remove it from its holder for remote use or leave it cradled for hands-free operation. Its computerized system lets you select the object catalog, change the slew speed, view fascinating information about an object, or simply know if a desired object is visible in the sky.

Optics:

Light gathering power: 354x – 30% brighter than the NexStar 114 SLT
Image orientation: The NexSTar 130 produces a “right-side-up image” but the image will appear rotated based on the location of the eyepiece holder in relation to the ground. Newtonian reflectors are best for astronomical use where right-side-up does not matter.
