A good, affordable third party lens for Nikon digital SLR users, covering your general telephoto range needs and also good for portraits and wide scene field sports shots. A macro function is included.  If you’re using an APS-C size camera sensor, ie not a Nikon D3 or similar full frame series camera, you’ll have an effective 35mm equivalent focal range of 105-450mm. The built-in motor allows autofocus with all Nikon digital cameras.

Macro

 

Although not a true 1:1 true life macro, the macro function available on this lens between the 200-300mm range does allow you to achieve a minimum focus distance of 95cm, as opposed to the usual 150cm minimum focus distance when not in macro mode. The resultant magnification in macro-mode is 1:2, which is still useful for portraiture and useable in small still-life close-up photography
