Design and Ergonomics

The HDR CX-100 fits into the ultra-compact category at a size of 55 x 60 x 114mm and a weight of 280g, yet remains loaded with value for money functionality. The 2.7" wide touch pane LCD display has 211k pixel resolution which can rotate up to 270 degrees for viewing and recording flexibility, and when opened quickly powers up the camcorder automatically. The touch panel gives quick access to features such as spot focus and spot metering. 

Lens and Audio-visual quality

The 1/5” Exmor CMOS sensor with ClearVid array gives bright, vivid, and highly detailed 2.3 megapixel (effective) video footage, and 4 megapixel still images. 10x Optical zoom, along with a further 120x digital zoom brings you closer to the action. Audio recording can also be ‘zoomed in’, with the built-in zoom microphone which focuses audio recording on your subjects in sync with the camera's zoom lens, ensuring that the Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound stereo recording matches the video imagery.

Recording System Features

The 8GB embedded internal memory can store up 2 hours of Standard Definition footage at the highest quality settings.

Technology Features

Built-in image stabilisation improves video and still image quality, while Dual Record capability lets you capture 2.3MP still images while recording High Definition video Using face detection technology, the camcorder recognises up to 8 faces anywhere in the frame and by selecting the most prominent, automatically controls focus, exposure, and colour to help capture smiling faces clearly. Facial recognition technology also get used for the Face Index feature, which indexes your video footage according to the faces detected in each scene, so that when it’s time to play back video, the user can simply search for what they want by selecting from among the detected faces displayed in the index. Also for after shooting, the Sony Picture Motion Browser software lets the user transfer, sort, and view recorded video and still images on a compatible PC.
