Design and Ergonomics

The VP-DX100 weighs 410g, and is 53.5 x 89.2 x 121.1mm in size, slotting it into the compact category. The sleek black lines of the camcorder and its light weight provide easy to use elegance, making single-handed recording a breeze. A clear 2.7 inch LCD screen with a handy 5-way operational key, along with a separate colour viewfinder and LED lighting on the function keys makes recording and post-recording viewing or editing easier. A swivel hand grip enables regular and low angle shooting, and the camcorder is tripod mountable for steady filming.
   
Lens and Audio-visual quality

Subjects such as sports events and concerts can be recorded with clarity from a distance, using the 34x optical zoom lens. A further 1200x massive digital zoom is available for enlarging images. The 800k pixel CCD films in a wide ratio of 16:9, allowing for a great viewing experience on a television or monitor. Focus, shutter speed, and white balance can be operated either manually or automatically. Recording makes use of full AC3 (Dolby) 2 channel stereo sound. 

Recording System Features

The VP- DX100 can record in MPEG2 onto the DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW formats, with dual layer recording on DVD+R format. The camcorder also has a SDHC and MMC+ slot for MPEG4 movie files.

Technology Features

Natural human tremor or picture shake, especially during zooming in and out, are improved by the built-in digital image stabilisation. Along with various digital effects such as black and white or sepia tones, the Voice Plus dubbing feature (which allows the user to overlay commentary over footage) makes customising footage a pleasure.

Connectivity

The camcorder uses a composite AV cable, and can directly connect to a printer via USB.
