Design and Ergonomics

This super-slim metal body camera is only 16.5mm thick and features a lens that does not extend even when the camera zooms.

Round the back you’ll find a 3 inch LCD touchscreen with a special, multi-layered coating that reduces reflection and increases contrast so pictures can be previewed and framed in superb detail, even under extra bright or dark lighting conditions.

The intuitive multi-purpose touch screen allows you to select the focus point with a simple touch, scroll through images by sliding your finger across the screen and access the menu with one touch. The display also features improved readability with list view, index view and new coloured icons.

Picture Quality and Lens

With 10.2 megapixels you can get a 8x12 with room for cropping to achieve poster size prints. The 4 times Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens does not extend when zooming and has a 35mm film equivalent focal length range of 35-140mm, which will give you a perspective from standard wide angle to short telephoto for small group pictures to creative portraits. It also has a 8 times digital zoom and up to 22 times smart zoom which is just a digital zoom that adjusts for optimum results by lowering resolution. This camera is also capable of a high 3200 ISO for better lowlight photography.

Key Features

Advanced Face Dection detects multiple faces in a single shot and determines focus, exposure and white balance, ensuring perfect exposure for the people in your scene. It can also distinguish between children and adults, allowing you to set the faces you want to concentrate on.

Smile Shutter is a technology that can recognise smiles and when selected will only take the picture when your subject smiles. You can choose between adult and child priority.

Double Anti-Blur technology achieves sharp pictures by boosting the ISO (light sensitivity) setting so that it can shoot at a higher shutter speed, and initiating the mechanical image stabilisation system which physically moves the inside of the camera to respond to camera shake allowing sharp pictures even under slow shutter speeds. In combination, these features allow the sharp capture of images at full resolution that other cameras without this technology simply cannot. In exposure the result is that your camera allows more of the natural light in the scene to expose through so less flash is needed – avoiding the pictures of faces against black backgrounds normally seen in cameras without this technology.

The MPEG movie mode allows you to capture movies with sound at a good quality 10 frames per second at HD-ready quality (720p) resolution. The zoom can also be used while capturing video.

D-Range Optimizer with new Plus mode adjusts exposure and contrast in high-contrast and backlit scenes to produce pictures that better resemble the way our eyes see things.

Intelligent Scene Recognition puts the job of selecting scene settings in the hands of the camera. The camera will analyse the scene and automatically determine which of its available scene modes best suits the conditions.

iAuto mode incorporates advanced features such as Intelligent Scene Recognition and Face Detection technology . It recognises scenes, lighting conditions, and faces and automatically adjusts camera settings for clear images, faces with natural skin tone, and less blur.

Sweep Panorama Mode reaches beyond the traditional wide angle lenses to let you capture expansive, breathtaking shots of landscapes or skyscrapers. Just press the shutter and shoot the scene with a sweeping motion. It then stitches the scene together, capturing up to 185 degree angles, both vertically and horizontally.

Handheld Twilight lets you capture cleaner and sharper night shots without using a tripod, by capturing six images in a fraction of a second with one press of the shutter, and combining the data from all six to create a single image of extraordinary detail and low noise.

Creative painting tools let you decorate your photos with words and drawings using the included paint pen. There are also more than 30 stamps and 15 types of picture frames.

PHOTOMUSIC combines images with music (4 tracks, 5 minutes per track) to produce fun and entertaining slide shows with standard visual effects (Simple, Nostalgic, Active, and Stylish). Select from pre-loaded tracks on the camera or transfer your own from your compatible computer.

In Easy Shooting Mode, easy-to-understand basic instructions are displayed on the LCD screen and the camera switches to all automatic settings, removing several function choices and allowing you to focus on just your subject. Since this mode works together with Intelligent Scene Recognition, the camera selects the optimum setting for each scene. In addition the easy mode simplifies preview mode.
