Design and ergonomics

The A850 body features a  high-quality, recycled polycarbonate body which weighs 850g and has dimensions of  156.3 x 116.9 x 81.9mm.
The 3-inch, LCD screen displays in high resolution 921K pixels.

Picture Quality

With the high-precision a (alpha) lenses, the A850 is designed to deliver ultra-fine picture quality with its 24.6-megapixel, 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor .
Processing speeds over the A850 have been achieved with the use of Sony’s two BIONZ image processing engines which applies advanced noise reduction algorithms producing high quality and detailed images, even at a high ISO.

An in camera preview function grabs a RAW preview image which is processed and displayed on the LCD screen to allows you to fine tune white balance, determine the best level and effect of dynamic range optimization, adjust exposure compensation and check histogram data, all before you actually take the picture.

Sony’s Dynamic Range Optimizer (DRO) has five levels of user-selectable correction as well as DRO bracketing for enhanced scene analysis and graduation optimization, whilst EV bracketing with ±2EV range makes it easy to create high dynamic range composite images.

Performance Features

Boasting a 24.6-megapixel, full-frame Exmor CMOS image sensor, the A850 allows users to achieve high resolution images easily for large-format printing. As there is no crop factor, wide-angle and specialty lenses (such as fisheye lenses) can be used the way they were designed to

Technology Features

SteadyShot INSIDE is an in-body optical Image Stablisation system which automatically counters unwanted camera shakes. Adding convenience, the A850 is compatible with all Minolta or Konica Minolta AF lenses, including the new DT 30mm F2.8 Macro SAM lens and full-frame-capable 28-75mm F2.8 SAM zoom lens
Sharing stunning photos on the new cameras is quick and convenient with high-quality Full HD slideshow playback on any compatible HD TV (via HDMI output).
With BRAVIA Sync, users can easily control camera playback and BRAVIA TV functions using just one remote control. The Memory Stick Duo slot in all three cameras support high capacity Memory Stick media, including the new Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX cards. The new Memory Stick PRO Duo 32GB also significantly increases memory space by storing over 5000 pictures  on a single card
