SAcamera was established over 6 years ago by photo/video enthusiasts passionate about providing fellow hobbyists, amateurs and professionals with the most efficient and cost-effective way of buying photo/video equipment.

As a business, product range is vital, and it is SAcamera’s goal as an ever-expanding resource to provide quality products that meet the requirements of professional, amateurs and occasional users alike. More than a point of sale, our continual growth must be rested in our customer service. As an information resource that offers unbiased and fair information and advice, our website should be our customers trusted port of call.

Chronology of SAcamera's History

2003:: SAcamera starts trading from a small bedroom in Cape Town, offering a limited range of equipment for purchase online.
2004:: After a successful year SAcamera moves into its first ‘office’ in the Cape Town CBD and takes on a single employee.
2005:: Growth of the company remains strong and the workforce doubles in size. Product range is expanded significantly in order to service the needs of professionals.
2006:: New offices are opened in the CBD and a ‘collection point’ is established for convenience to Cape Town customers. Key relationships are established with major local suppliers.
2007:: Online commerce begins to really take off in South Africa and SAcamera ships more parcels around South Africa than ever before. SAcamera moves to a larger premises and opens a small showroom. Website and service improvements lead to the site winning the Jump Shopping 2007 E-commerce Award for Best Online Photographic Store in South Africa.
2008:: SAcamera relocates once again, this time to smarter premises in Century City, and opens a new showroom. Distribution network is improved in order to service customers across Southern Africa. SAonline Holdings is now the formal holding company for SAcamera, with a new CK number.

2009:: SAcamera launches a blog and Facebook page on which fans can post pictures and comments

2010:: SAcamera launches a new backend for its website and invests in more website tools to improve shopping experience.
