Making Your Own Brushes | Photoshop
Your first thought might be WHY?
But to be honest there are a ton of great reasons to be making your own Photoshop brush. I would say the most useful one is as a signature for you photos. Other than that the possibilities are endless.
For now, I will show you how to make a signature for your photos.
The hardest part about this project is picking the font you want!
There are so many beautiful fonts to choose from.
Open Photoshop.
Select File > New.
Make your canvas about 500px by 500px with a white background.
Now using the type tool click on the screen and type your name.
You now go to the character menu and choose the font you want. (work in black as it doesn’t really matter because once you have created your brush you will be able to stamp it in any colour)
*note: if you are unsure of where any of the tools are you can refer to our previous Photoshop lessons regarding the tools*
You can use other existing brushes to add a logo or create your own logo alongside your name…you can do pretty much anything you want to do in your new canvas.

When you are ready to save your brush go to Edit > Define Brush Preset.
A little box pops up and you type in the name of your new brush *my signature*
Click ok.
Now open one of your photographs. Select the brush tool > right click on your photo and right at the bottom of your options of brushes to choose from you will find your very own custom brush!!
Stamp it on your photo.
Remember that you can change the opacity of your custom brush so that it becomes more of a watermark if you would like.
