Something you might not have known was possible! You can taken a black and white photo and colour it using Adobe Photoshop.
It’s fun and super easy and you get to pick all the colours you want.

Open you image in Photoshop.

Create a new layer above your black and white image by selecting Layer > New Layer

A new blank layer will appear above your image in your layers bar.

Click on this blank layer and set the overlay to ‘colour’ instead of normal.

You can do this by selecting the little drop down arrow at the top of your layers bar (it will be set on normal by default).untitled

Now select your paint brush & pick the first colour you want to paint with.
This is going to be very much like colouring in (actually it is exactly the same except it’s all digital and you have the ability to undo a mistake)

With your paint brush tool set up however you want it to be (with a small brush or a big brush etc) you can paint right into your photo (make sure you are working in the new blank layer)
You will see that all of your detail from the layer beneath is staying visible and the colour is simply ‘tinting’ wherever you paint.

If you make a mistake you can grab the eraser tool and just rub it out without effecting the original photo underneath.

If you want to be extra careful you can make a new layer for each colour you add to your black and white image so that if you decide that the colour is wrong at the end it is easy to change using the Hue & Saturation menu or by simply deleting that layer and starting that colour over again (without having to redo all of your colours)

Note:
You can add make up to a portrait this way too! Or even change the colour or something in a colour photo (a t-shirt or a car maybe?)
