The largest image in the world was taken on the 23rd of April 2010.
It took the photographer, Gerald Donovan, and his Canon 7D a total of three and a half hours, in 37degree heat, to take 4,250 images which were merged into on photograph with a total size of 45 GIGApixels…that’s (hold on let me get my calculator!) over 45,000 megapixels! Try emailing THAT!

This project was possible because Gerald had a Epic Gigapan Pro Robotic attached to his 7D. It is a special camera mount that allows you to take and merge thousands of images.
