What Sets You Apart | Upping the Ante
Looking at your photographs, can you see your own personal style showing through? Can you stand back and say ‘yes, my photo style is unique’?
A creative photographer has one great way of grabbing a WOW factor from their viewers. It’s a lot easier than you think.
Take something that hundreds of people see every day and hardly give a second glance to, take that object and photograph it from an angle that all of those hundreds of people haven’t seen before.
As simple as that!
Don’t photograph a flower from the top, lye down on the ground and look up at the fields of golden tulips.
A building that you walk past everyday might have an interesting shape or texture, try standing right up against it and photographing with the camera pointing up along the wall, turning your building into an abstract image.
Even when taking photographs of obvious subjects, like a lighthouse at the end of a walkway, get down as close to the ground as possible and look upwards towards the lighthouse, making it more prominent and giving it a bigger, better presence in your image.
Don’t take my word for it, next time you are out and about taking photos – take your usual photo and then also take one from the ground looking up. When you get home decide which one you like better.
Here are some great examples of photographs taken from an unusual perspective.
