With a personal love for what I can only express as Grunge Photography, I find the city and its hidden corners a beautiful place to photograph. Abandoned buildings and cement textured elements bring out the best in me and my camera.

Leaning towards this style I was drawn to the work of a German-born photographer who has an obvious shared taste. The only difference is that she has been busy with her camera for a lot longer than I have. So what is the best thing for me to do? Take inspiration from her mastered skill of course!

Rus was born in 1967 and after studying photography at London College of Communication as well as the University of Westminster she began to develop her personal style and a name for herself in the photography world.

She favors the urban landscape in the quiet of the night. She prefers to only have a human element in an indirect manner. Without people in her photos she shows our existence by including graffiti or inhabited buildings.

Her images share a mix of emotions from spiritual to ghostly naked.

Rich with texture and glowing with warming lighting and cold concrete constructions her photography is intriguing and inspiring.

At 43 years of age, working from London City, she continuous to create long exposure images of night scenes.

By a well known photographer and teacher, Tom Ang, her work has been called Spiritual and Dystopia / Dystopian. An apt description!

Below are beautiful examples of her work
