You must be a member to upload a video to YouTube. Membership is free and really easy. Just click on ‘Sign Up’ at the top of the page and fill in your information on the form that pops up. YouTube will send you a confirmation email when you are done and once you have confirmed (by clicking the link in the email) you will be able to sign in with the name and password you have just made,

When you are signed in with your own account you can upload your video!

Here’s how you upload a video to YouTube:

1) In the top right hand corner of the YouTube home page you will find a little drop down arrow under your YouTube username. Click on that and select My videos.

2) On the page that pops up there will be a big heading in the box in the middle of your screen that says “You have not uploaded any videos yet. Start uploading a video now!” Click on that.

3) On the screen that opens you will see a little yellow block that says “upload video” Now you are going to click BROWSE so that you can tell YouTube where the video is on your computer and that it can upload that video file. Clicking browse will open a list of your computer files. Go to the video file – click on it and then click OK or Upload.

4) While your video is uploading you can complete the form beneath it. The title is the title you want to name your video. A description will appear underneath your video when people look at it, you can give some information about where it was recorded or why. Filling in the tags is important because it helps people search for your video. If your video is about cars and racing then you would have tags like car, motor sports, racing, fast etc. If your video was your cat doing funny things you would have tags like; laugh, cat, joke, animal etc

5) Set your privacy to Public so that everyone can see your video.

6) Be patient while uploading – YouTube is thinking and saving a lot of information.

7) Once your video is uploaded you can click save changes and then you are all done!

Once your video is uploaded it will take a few minutes before it is live. You don’t need to do anything more though.
