GOLD DIWA AWARD FOR NIKON D5000
If you have taken a look at our recent review and video of this versatile camera, then you would not be surprise to find out that it has been awarded DIWA GOLD!
An organisation of related experts at DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association) spend time putting various image capturing devices through some very high pressure, in-depth tests and reviews and during these tests, the Nikon D5000 didn’t skip a beat when it came to impressing this panel of professionals. They gave special mention to its ease of use and the convenient, innovative, ‘any angle’ LCD all topped off with the fact that the Nikon D5000 can also record HD video and high quality stills.
Product Manager at Nikon Europe, Jordi Brinkman, commented: “We are delighted to see the D5000 achieve this well-respected Gold award. The D5000 brings high-end technologies to a wider range of consumers and offers a range of innovative user-friendly features such as HD video and the vari-angle monitor. It’s a great choice for those who want to capture all of life’s important moments, and want superior image quality for their stills and their videos, and we’re really pleased it has gained this recognition from DIWA as a result.”
And a comment from the Digital Imaging Websites Association: “The Nikon D5000 knows how to stand out from most compact DSLR cameras thanks to its innovative image technology and user ease. The convenient vari-angle LCD monitor allows users to shoot from any angle, and Live View mode gives digital photography an extra dimension. The Nikon D5000 managed to convince the DIWA jury simply by its superior image quality, innovative functionality and user-friendliness.”

Hi All. Can anyone tell me witch is the better camera between the Nikon D90 and D5000.
I have searched websites but would still like to hear from someone with some experience and who has handeled both.
Hi Jo, I have had a chat with our Nikon Guy and he had the following to say:
The D90 was launched in Aug 08 and the D5000 at a later stage April 09, although the D5000 boast HD movie they’re basically very similar, having the same Pixel count the body construction is somewhat different, the D90 being Magnesium Alloy makes it weather proof and a much more solid design. The 2 cameras are very similar as mentioned with the same type of ISO sensitivity and 11 AF points and shooting at 4.5 FPS (D90) and 4FPS makes one wonder is this worth it to upgrade form a (Nikon) Consumer camera to a (Nikon)Semi Pro camera, the only drawback on the D5000 is that of the screen size been 2.7’’ and the D90 3’’ nothing really to write home about, the other downfall is that one cannot use all the Lenses from Nikon as is does not have an Auto Focus motor built into the body but does gain a tilt LCD display,
Ultimately the D5000 would be well worth the spend
